You're just one step away

Firstly, it's great news that you are interested in Nordic walking and welcome to the Nordic walking classes offered by The Fitness Practice in Wiltshire.

Here's a quick guide to how you can get going and feel the benefits as soon as possible through our introductory and taster sessions.

Introductory workshops

These workshops are the starting point for joining any of The Fitness Practice Nordic walks. They are 4 x 1 hour sessions that cover the following essentials:

  • Introduction to the sport of Nordic walking and its history
  • Demonstrates the health benefits
  • Teaches the 10-step technique and
  • Fits you with the right poles

That's it! You are then ready to go Nordic walking with us.

Our base for this is Caen Hill Locks, Devizes Sports Club  and Avebury National Trust. Poles are provided.

Taster sessions

If you haven't tried Nordic walking before and you're not too sure what it is or if you'll like it we can help. We run a fun 1 hour session for you to try the poles and with a couple of quick moves you'll feel the immediate difference it makes to walking - feel lighter, walk faster and feel the extra effort on your arms and tums. Of course, lots of opportunity to ask any questions - and there's never a daft one. So bring along some friends and find out what its all about.

The sessions will be at our base at either Caen Hill Locks, Devizes Sports Club, or Avebury National Trust.
